I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. Many of our existing families may already know my face. I have been a teacher at Adat Shalom Religious School for 10 years now, teaching everything from grades three through seven. I live with my husband, Steven, and our two children, Rinoa and Grayson, ages five and two, in Greenfield.
Adat Shalom has seen me through my undergraduate career, my adventure obtaining my Masters in the Art of Teaching, starting my career as an Elementary School Teacher, meeting my husband, starting my family, and now me making the shift from a teacher to my new position as the Religious School Director.
Over the past ten years I have been able to watch Adat Shalom Religious School evolve and grow under Gail’s leadership. I am excited for the possibility of continuing to grow with the school, and the ability to use my experience and knowledge to build on Gail’s wonderful contributions. We have a fantastic group of dedicated and passionate teachers who make the classrooms a safe place for the students to explore themselves and their connection to Judaism. It is an absolute pleasure to be given the opportunity to work with these teachers in a new capacity.
My daughter, Rinoa, will be starting in our Religious School as a Kindergartner in September. You will be able to find me around the Synagogue not only as the Religious School Director, but as a parent and congregant as well. I look forward to meeting those of you I have yet to meet, and to get to know all of you a little better. Please feel free to call or email me at any time. I would be happy to hear from you.
This year’s closing ceremonies were bitter sweet. While we acknowledged our students for their year of learning and our teachers for their year of teaching and dedication, we also said goodbye to Gail Schmitt after ten years as our Religious School Director. Gail is retiring from her position as Religious School Director so that she can have more time with her growing family. While we will miss her warmth, patience and laughter, we wish her well on the next chapter. Luckily we will still be able to see her from time to time as she stays on as the Director of Adat Shalom Preschool.
