Adat Shalom owns and oversees two cemeteries:
B’nai Israel Cemetery and Beth Jacob Cemetery.
The cost of a plot at B’nai Israel and Beth Cemeteries is $1800.
The fee for opening/closing is $1500.
B’nai Israel Cemetery
The cemetery was founded in 1921 in Penn Township.
B’nai Israel Cemetery, Blackadore Ave, Penn Hills
Hours are 9am – 5pm, Sunday – Friday,
Closed Saturday.
Beth Jacob Cemetery
Beth Jacob Cemetery in Lower Burrell was founded in 1912.
Hours are 9am – 5pm, Sunday – Friday,
Closed Saturday
The Symbolism of Leaving Stones at Graves
Many visitors to the cemeteries place a stone on the base or top of the monument to show that they have been there, and that the individual’s memory continues to live on in and through them. It is an acknowledgement that the deceased has not been forgotten.
